MyTV Super, the subscription OTT platform run by Hong Kong commercial broadcaster TVB, has secured exclusive rights to the English FA Cup in a four-year deal from 2020-21 to 2023-24.
Coverage of all matches from the FA Cup will be available to MyTV Gold premium-tier subscribers. MyTV Super basic-tier subscribers will have access to selected matches.
The inventory also includes this weekend’s 2019-20 FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea, which will be broadcast on the free-to-air “TVB finance and information” channel.
MyTV Super will create a special area on its platform to host the FA Cup content, including live and delayed match coverage, some of which will feature Cantonese commentary.
The deal was agreed with the IMG agency, which is selling the international rights for the FA Cup under a six-year deal with the English Football Association, from 2018-19 to 2023-24.
In deals agreed with IMG at the same time, MyTV Super has acquired rights to the Swedish Allsvenskan football league in 2020 and 2021, and the Dutch Eredivisie in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
MyTV Super is the biggest OTT platform in Hong Kong, with more than 8.5 million registered users as of the end of June this year.
Its other sports content includes the beIN Sports channels, which carry coverage of the Uefa Champions League, Uefa Europa League, Italian Serie A, and French Ligue 1.
The MyTV Gold premium tier offers video-on-demand programming and 55 linear channels, and is accessible via set-top box, mobile and other internet-connected devices.
