Nascar has debuted a dedicated channel on Motorsport.tv, the over-the-top streaming platform operated by digital media group Motorsport Network, in a move that will expand the property’s global media reach.
The new Nascar channel will be available to Motorsport Network’s worldwide monthly audience of 56 million and feature a variety of behind-the-scenes content.
“Nascar is a truly worldwide brand, and now, courtesy of Motorsport Network, Nascar fans located internationally will have access to more content than ever before from their favorite sport,” said Wyatt Hicks, Nascar managing director of digital media. “Motorsport Network, through its global distribution platform, is the perfect partner to help us serve our fans around the globe and deliver them the type of content they crave.”
The new initiative extends an existing relationship between Motorsport Network and Nascar. Motorsport Games holds a multiyear license to create the Nascar Heat video game franchise and manage the eNascar Heat Pro League esports series. The second season of eNHPL this year has generated 3.7 million views over the course of the regular season, representing a 300 per cent increase in viewership.
“Helping a rights holder of this magnitude reach global audiences via their own official channel will add value not only to our distribution model but also to the viewer experience,” said Eric Gilbert, president of Motorsport.tv.
The move also extends an active period for Motorsport Network. The outfit recently debuted another dedicated channel from German auto manufacturer Mercedes, and last month unveiled a new global distribution and production platform, Motorsport Studios.
