The National Basketball Association has created an alternate broadcast option devoted to sports betting within its suite of video platforms.
The newly formed NBABet Stream will be available for select games within the NBA League Pass out-of-market subscription and NBA TV via the NBA App and NBA.com through NBA TV’s direct-to-consumer subscription product. The betting-focused presentation will feature odds and expert analysis.
The effort is part of a broader attempt by the NBA to use technology to reimagine its game presentation, particularly with no in-person attendance amid the league’s ongoing restart in Orlando, Florida.
But is also showcases, the NBA’s aggressive stance regarding legalized sports wagering in the United States, one that has hit a higher gear over the past two years following a Supreme Court ruling allowing individual states to make their own rules regarding legal wagering.
The league has actively struck a series of betting-related content, data, and sponsorship deals around the globe, most recently reaching an agreement with the Olympic Entertainment Group AS covering the Baltics and Slovakia.
Individual NBA teams are also following suit as Capital One Arena in Washington, District of Columbia, home of the NBA’s Washington Wizards, recently opened an in-venue sportsbook in partnership with William Hill US.
BetMGM will be the presenting sponsor of NBABet Stream and provide odds for the betting broadcasts.
