The NBC Sports Group division of US media company NBCUniversal has joined forces with North American NBA basketball team the Portland Trail Blazers to trial a new direct-to-consumer media product during the 2017-18 season.
‘Blazers Pass’ will allow fans residing in the team’s regional territory to purchase 15 live games during the season. Blazers’ territory is determined by NBA rules.
The service will form part of the NBC Sports Gold suite of direct-to-consumer live streaming products to desktop, mobile, tablets and connected television devices.
Supporters can subscribe to the full 15-game package for $34.99 (€29.99), but if purchased before December 1, then fans will receive a 10 percent discount, with an introductory price of $31.50 for the full package.
NBC Sports said that despite the launch of the service, its NBC Sports Northwest regional affiliate will continue to present its television and streaming offering via ‘TV Everywhere’ of Blazers games, including the 15 covered by Blazers Pass.
