Pay-television broadcaster Neo Sports has retained rights for the Asia Cup national team cricket tournament.
The deal includes rights in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for the 2014 event as well as first refusal rights for the following three editions of the tournament in 2016, 2018 and 2020.
The broadcaster struck the deal with the Nimbus Sport division of the Nimbus Communications agency, the marketing agency of the Asian Cricket Council governing body, which operates the event.
Neo Sports will exploit the rights on the Neo Prime channel, which was rebranded as a multi-sports channel last year after having been previously called Neo Cricket. Neo Sports showed the 2010 and 2012 events on Neo Cricket.
“The Asia Cup is our marquee event and we have constantly strived to boost its standing through long-term deals with trusted business associates,” Asian Cricket Council chief executive Ashraful Haq said.
