Win Sports, a new sports channel in Colombia that is jointly owned by pay-television broadcaster DirecTV and commercial broadcaster RCN, started broadcasting yesterday, according to Colombian news website El País.
Win Sports will initially be available on DirecTV’s own pay-television platform as well as cable-television platforms SuperCable and Cable Bello, telecommunications company EmCali and satellite-television broadcasters TV Sur and Comunitarias TV.
The operators of the channel, which will broadcast for 17 hours per day, are open to agreeing further carriage deals.
The channel’s core offering will be live coverage of the Liga Postobon, the top-tier football division in the country, as well as the domestic cup competition, Copa Postobon, and some second-tier football matches and basketball games. It will also broadcast magazine shows and discussion programmes. Win Sports is branding itself as the first ever channel dedicated to Colombian sport.
The channel was originally expected to launch in July.
