No carriage deal with Movistar TV for beIN Sports, Mediapro says

Spanish agency Mediapro has failed to agree a carriage deal with Movistar TV, the IPTV platform of telecommunications company Telefónica, for the new beIN Sports channel in the country.

Mediapro confirmed that it had not reached an agreement with Telefónica in a statement.

BeIN Sports, which launched in Spain on August 1, is being distributed by Mediapro to pay-television operators.

Mediapro said that telcos Vodafone, Orange and regional operator Telecable had agreed carriage deals for the new service. The channel will also be available via the Totalchannel and Beinsports.es online platforms.

BeIN Sports shows coverage of football’s Uefa Champions League and Europa League, as well as the English Premier League, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 top divisions. The group stages of the Champions League kicked off this week.
