US sports broadcaster ESPN has struck a deal to stream live coverage of domestic ice hockey competition the National Women’s Hockey League.
Under the agreement, ESPN will live stream Boston Pride games via its ESPN3 mobile platform.
The deal will commence with coverage of this weekend’s game between Boston Pride and Connecticut Whale.
ESPN has broadcast highlights of matches on its Sportscenter sports news programme so far in the 2015-16 season, the NWHL’s inaugural campaign.
Last week, the NWHL secured its first rights deal through an agreement with regional cable-television broadcaster New England Sports Network. NESN has committed to broadcast eight Boston Pride games for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
