PCB awards broadcast rights for new Pakistan Super League

The Pakistan Cricket Board has awarded media rights for its Pakistan Super League to the country’s public-service broadcaster PTV and pay-television broadcaster Ten Sports, with Tech Front acquiring global rights to the new Twenty20 franchise competition.

The deals are for three years, commencing from the inaugural edition of the PSL, which will be held in Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from February 4-24 next year.

Matches will be aired in Pakistan on Ten Sports and PTV Sports, while UAE-based media rights company Tech Front will market the global rights. Coverage will be produced by UK-based sports production and media company Sunset+Vine.

Najam Sethi, chairman of the PSL governing council, said: “Having awarded production rights to Sunset+Vine, the next step was to ensure that we get the maximum number of eyeballs and I would like to welcome our media rights partners.”

PTV and Ten Sports are existing rights partners of the PCB. In April, the board awarded rights to the two broadcasters under a five-year deal running from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
