Porto more than doubles its TV rights money

Porto’s current contract is worth around €9 million per season and expires at the end of the 2013-14 season. As part of the new agreement, Porto will also be able to use its television rights for the club’s new television channel that is set to launch in July.

Porto’s deal is worth significantly less than the €108 million, or €27 million per season, that Sporting Lisbon managed to secure over the same period with Oliveira last year. Portuguese Liga rights are sold on a club-by-club basis and Oliveira’s Olivedesportos agency currently holds all the clubs’ rights.
