Premier League scores rights deals in Czech Republic, Slovakia

Pay-television operator Digi Czech Republic has agreed a three-season extension to its rights deal for football’s English Premier League.

Digi CZ will continue to exclusively broadcast the Premier League in its home market and Slovakia across the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons of the top division of English club football.

Vladimir Rusnak, executive director of Digi CZ, said: “Our goal has not changed, we want to return a new Digi TV to first place among pay-television broadcasters in the country. After the successful acquisitions of the two top football leagues on the planet – LaLiga and the Premier League – we do not exclude the purchase of other exclusive rights.”

Digi CZ is set to launch a new OTT platform later this year for access via television and mobile devices.
