Rai takes on Sky with multi-platform World Cup coverage

Rai has the live rights to only 25 matches, including all of Italy’s games, whereas Sky has live rights to all 64 matches. Rai will also show highlights of all matches, 30 minutes after the final whistle.

In addition, Rai said, when unveiling is schedule the week, the state broadcaster will provide a daily afternoon news and preview programme and a late-night highlights programme. Coverage will be shared between flagship channel, Rai 1, and the broadcaster’s second channel, Rai 2. Rai’s online coverage will include live streaming of its 25 matches, on-demand downloads of highlights all matches 30 minutes after the final whistle, and round-the-clock news coverage. All 64 matches will be transmitted live on Radio 1. The state broadcaster has yet to announce its full line up of studio guests.
