Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang has acquired the rights to all Austrian Bundesliga matches involving FC Red Bull Salzburg for the ongoing season.
The new deal has been agreed with sports and betting-related services company Sportradar, which acquired international rights from pay-television broadcaster Sky Österreich last year. The international rights to the league were included in Sky’s record domestic deal, signed in 2017.
Verdens Gang will stream the matches to subscribers on its VG+ platform.
The rights the Austrian Bundesliga have limited international appeal, aside from betting rights, but the emergence of Salzburg’s Norwegian player Erling Braut Håland this season has led to demand from his home country.
Håland signed for Salzburg in January 2019 and has made headlines this season for his performances in the Bundesliga, along with currently being the joint top goalscorer in this seasons Uefa Champions League.
Norwegians can also watch the young striker in the Champions League on Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group’s sports channels and on commercial and pay-television broadcaster TV2.
