Spanish Liga football club Real Madrid will “listen to offers” for its media rights covering the 2014-15 season and has given bidders one week to register an interest.
The club has appealed the findings late last year of the Comisión Nacional de la Competencia, Spain’s competition authority, that its extension with the Mediapro agency for the rights covering the 2014-15 season contravened rules surrounding the maximum length of rights deals.
“Real Madrid has appealed the cited conclusions of the competition authority before the courts, and the case is still pending,” the club said. “Notwithstanding, as they have always done, and in accordance with the regulations, Real Madrid will listen to offers from those who might be interested in acquiring available audiovisual rights, with the sole intention of maximising the investment stemming from the club's rights and defending the interests of the club.”
The club added: “Those who are interested should make offers to the club within seven days of the publication of this announcement, and should attach an explicatory report of the predicted commercial use and their economic offer.”
