Digital media services company RR Media has agreed a three-year deal to become a delivery partner for English Premier League football club Arsenal’s international programming block.
The distribution of the weekly Arsenal Media programming block from the London-based club will consist of two magazine shows plus the matches Arsenal plays during that week.
RR Media will utilise its global distribution network to take the content from telecommunications company BT in London through its global media centre, optimising delivery using fibre and satellite to Europe and Asia. RR Media said there is an option for further distribution into new regions using its network.
Luca Marinoni, head of sports and live events at RR Media, said of the contract: “This demonstrates our ability to distribute high profile sports content worldwide, whilst also giving us the platform for future partnerships with sporting clubs and organisations.”
The RR Media deal comes after the MP & Silva agency in July agreed a four-year extension to its content and media advisor partnership with Arsenal Broadband Limited, the digital arm of Arsenal.
The existing six-year deal had another two years to run, but now extends through until the 2018-19 season. Under the new deal, MP & Silva continues to distribute the club’s international programming block – the Arsenal Media Channel – and remains its strategic media advisor.
