Seven tees up Australian Open coverage

Australian network Seven has acquired rights for the 2012 Australian Open golf event in Sydney.

Seven will broadcast 20 hours of live coverage across the four days of the tournament, on December 6-9.

The deal was brokered by the World Sport Group agency on behalf of the PGA of Australia, the organisation that operates the event.

“The 2011 Emirates Australian Open was watched by a significant domestic and international television audience, and we look forward to working with Seven to grow the tournament in 2012 and beyond,” PGA of Australia chief executive Brian Thorburn said.
