Pay-television broadcaster BSkyB has acquired exclusive UK rights for live coverage of the British & Irish Lions rugby union team’s tour to Australia in 2013.
Sky will show all three Lions Test matches against the Australia national team plus seven tour games in Australia and Hong Kong in June and July of next year.
The rights cover television, computer, mobile and tablet devices.
Sky said that the deal was agreed directly with the Lions, which is a collaboration between the rugby union governing bodies of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Lions team features players from all four nations.
Sky has broadcast matches from the quadrennial Lions tours on an exclusive basis in the UK since 1997.
