Italian pay-television broadcaster Sky Italia has extended its association with the Rugby World Cup by acquiring rights to the 2015 edition of the national team tournament.
Under the terms of the deal with tournament organiser Rugby World Cup Limited, Sky will broadcast live coverage of all 48 matches and will also provide a digital and mobile offering for this year’s competition.
Sky Italia sport rights, programming and production director Matteo Mammì said: “Our strong collaboration with Rugby World Cup dates back to 2003 and we are proud to be projecting the 2015 edition to audiences across Italy. Rugby World Cup is the jewel of the crown of our sport offering, which has never been so wide in terms of properties and events.”
England is hosting the 2015 World Cup from September 18 to October 31. Italy opens its Pool D campaign against France at London’s Twickenham stadium on September 19.
