Pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport will remain on Italian pay-television platform Sky Italia beyond the new year, according to the Broadband TV News website.
Earlier this week, Sky was said to have pulled out of negotiations for a new carriage deal due to concerns over the proposed fee. The development was set to have meant that from January 1, Eurosport would only be available on Italy’s second pay-television platform Mediaset Premium, which would not carry Eurosport’s high-definition channels.
However, sources familiar with the situation said the Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels will continue to be available as part of the Sky Sport package past January 1, as negotiations continue between the two parties.
