UK pay-television broadcaster Sky has acquired a majority stake in specialist horse racing channel At The Races.
The Times newspaper reported that Sky previously held a 48-per-cent stake in the pay-television channel, while UK racecourse owner and operator Arena Racing Company (ARC) held a 52-per-cent shareholding.
The newspaper said that Sky and ARC earlier this month agreed to flip their respective shareholdings, handing majority ownership to Sky.
A Sky spokesman said: “We have been long-term partners and investors in At The Races and have decided to strengthen the partnership further, by incrementally increasing our shareholding.”
Sky declined to comment on the report’s claim that it would rebrand the channel as Sky Sports Racing. Such a move would bring At The Races in line with the broadcaster’s Sky Sports channels.
