The Scottish Professional Football League has today (October 1) launched a tender for its domestic media rights from 2020-21.
Rights to the following competitions are available: the top-tier Premiership, second-tier Championship, third-tier League One, fourth-tier League Two, play-off matches, the League Cup (known as the Betfred Cup), and the Challenge Cup (known as the Irn-Bru Cup). Radio rights are also available.
The tender is available to broadcasters, agencies and other potential purchasers of SPFL media rights in the UK and Ireland. Interested parties should contact the SPFL at RFP2018@spfl.co.uk.
The league’s domestic rights are currently shared between pay-television broadcasters BT Sport and Sky in three-season deals, from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
At the end of August, the league struck a stop-gap international rights deal with the Infront agency for two seasons: 2018-19 and 2019-20. The league didn’t want to agree a long-term deal for its international rights in case a potential domestic live rights buyer in the new cycle also wants international rights.
