Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has agreed a deal to carry Sport 24, the live sports channel produced and distributed by the IMG Media agency exclusively for the in-flight and in-ship markets.
Sport 24 will be introduced on Etihad Airways flights from tomorrow (Friday) to coincide with Formula One’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which has the airline as its title sponsor.
Sport 24 will broadcast this weekend’s motor-racing event along with the final two races of the 2013 F1 season in the United States and Brazil.
In addition to F1, Etihad Airways passengers will also be able to watch tennis’ ATP World Tour Finals, football from the English Premier League and German Bundesliga and Euroleague Basketball games this month.
Sport 24’s coverage in 2014 includes the Australian Open, French Open and US Open tennis grand slams, the Winter Olympics, golf’s Masters and Ryder Cup tournaments, and football’s Fifa World Cup.
Sport 24 is one of eight live television channels that are set to be introduced on Etihad Airways flights in the coming months.
The channels will be available on 21 Etihad Airways aeroplanes by November 7, rising to 37 by the end of this year.
