German commercial sports broadcaster Sport1 has acquired rights for the men’s and women’s ice hockey tournaments during the 2014 winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
Sport1 acquired the multi-platform rights in a sublicensing deal with public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF.
Sport1 will show live coverage of 25 games, including the semi-finals and finals, on its main free-to-air television channel as well as high-definition channel Sport1 HD and the Sport1.de website.
Sport1 will also show news and highlights from the event on its television and online platforms.
The Sochi 2014 winter Olympic Games will take place from February 7-23, 2014. The men’s ice hockey tournament runs from February 12-23 while the women’s event is scheduled for February 8-20.
