Deutsche Telekom seals German ice hockey league deal

German telco Deutsche Telekom has acquired rights for the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the top division of ice hockey in the country.

The rights will cover four seasons, from 2016-17 to 2019-20, with the option of extending the deal by a further four seasons, from 2020-21 to 2023-24.

Live coverage of every DEL match will be available on the Entertain IPTV service and on PCs, tablets and smartphones. Deutsche Telekom also plans to strike sublicensing deals with free-to-air broadcasters.
