German sports broadcaster Sport1 has acquired rights to the national basketball team’s games in the Supercup tournament, along with a friendly against France, as it prepares for the 2017 EuroBasket competition.
The four-team Supercup tournament is being hosted in the German city of Hamburg from August 18-20 and Sport1 has acquired platform-neutral free-to-air rights to the event from the Lagardère Sports Germany agency.
Sport1 will broadcast Germany’s games against Russia, Poland and Serbia over the three days of the tournament. It will also televise the friendly against France on August 27, which is being held in Berlin.
EuroBasket 2017 is being co-hosted by Finland, Israel, Romania and Turkey from August 31 to September 17.
Germany has been drawn in Group B alongside Ukraine, Israel, Lithuania, Georgia and Italy and will commence its campaign against Ukraine on the opening day.
