The Sportfive agency has struck rights deals on behalf of the International Olympic Committee in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for the 2014 winter Olympic Games and the 2016 summer Olympics.
In the Czech Republic, public-service broadcaster Czech TV acquired free-to-air rights for both events, including online rights for most disciplines at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and online rights for all disciplines at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Czech commercial and pay-television broadcaster Nova has also acquired rights for both editions of the Olympics. Nova will provide pay-television, pay-per-view, video-on-demand and online coverage of both events, with the deal including one discipline from the 2014 Games to be shown live on free-to-air television.
In Slovakia, public-service broadcaster RTVS has been awarded free-to-air rights for the 2014 and 2016 Games, while commercial broadcaster Markiza has acquired pay-per-view, video-on-demand and online rights for both events. Markiza will also show one discipline from the 2014 Games on free-to-air television.
Slovakian pay-television rights for all events at both editions of the Olympics have been acquired by Nova Group.
Sportfive is selling the IOC’s rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics in 40 European territories.
