Southeast Asian OTT service SportsFix has secured a $1m (€820,000) investment from Mayfair 101 through an initial funding round.
The investment vehicle’s support will allow SportsFix to expand its service in Indonesia, Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets in the coming months.
In the long term, SportsFix has ambitions to start producing its own original content across the region, according to Digital News Asia.
“The platform was a natural choice for us given the Asean region has one of the highest uptake rates of mobile data consumption and a rising interest in local and international sports,” Mayfair 101 managing director James Mawhinney said.
SportsFix executive chairman Marcus Luer added: “Their (Mayfair 101’s) team not only bring additional funding to SportsFix but considerable expertise and relationships that we are already starting to leverage with SportsFix’s growth plans.”
SportsFix streams live and on-demand coverage of football’s Chinese Super League, Liga 1 Indonesia and Thai Premier League, basketball’s K League Classic and Philippine Basketball League, Bangladesh cricket action and various MMA series.
Earlier this month, SportsFix struck a rights deal with the Chinese Basketball Association to show live coverage of games operated by the national association.
