Swiss public-service broadcaster SRG-SSR has acquired free-to-air rights for two editions of the Olympic Games in a sublicensing deal with international media company Discovery Communications.
The deal covers the 2018 winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and the 2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Under the agreement, SRG-SSR will provide live coverage of the Games via television, online and mobile platforms.
Discovery-owned pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport will also show coverage on its channels and on the Eurosport Player digital service.
SRG-SSR also acquired non-exclusive radio and digital rights. SRG-SSR’s coverage will be provided in German, French, Italian and Romansh language. Its sub-licensing arrangement will include rights for news-specific programmes that follow the live events.
