SRO unveils broadcast line-up for 2016 GT Series

SRO Motorsports Group, promoter of the GT Series, has unveiled details of expanded broadcast coverage for the 2016 season of the motor racing competition.

SRO said the key expansion of this year’s television package will be a round-the-clock broadcast of the 24 Hours of Spa, the showpiece event of the GT Series. The race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium will be provided with start-to-finish coverage, while qualifying and superpole sessions will also be live.

In Europe, motorsport channel Motors TV will cover every round of the Endurance Cup live, while pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport will cover the Sprint Cup live or 'as-live'. Eurosport will also show highlights of the endurance races, which are also being covered by UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport.

The Bloomberg Television division of international business news service Bloomberg will offer highlights of sprint and endurance events. Dutch commercial broadcaster RTL is adding live coverage of some sprint races to its portfolio. Belgian public-service broadcaster RTBF will have extensive live coverage of the 24 Hours of Spa.

In Asia, Fox Japan has been added as a new broadcast partner. It will show as-live coverage of the Sprint Cup and highlights of the endurance races. Other Asian networks continuing to cover the GT Series through highlights programmes are Eurosport Asia, pay-television broadcaster Star Sports, Bloomberg and Fox Sports.

In the Americas, pay-television broadcaster CBS Sports continues its combination of live coverage and highlights in the United States and Canada, with the endurance races streamed live on Motor Trend. South American race fans are again served by pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Latin America, which is showing highlights of all races.

In the Middle East, pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports will mix live coverage of the sprint series with highlights of the endurance competition. Turkish commercial broadcaster NTV will feature highlights.

Bloomberg also covers the African continent, along with Fox Sports Africa.
