Pay-television sports broadcaster SuperSport, which operates in sub-Saharan Africa, has acquired the rights in South Africa to the national team’s showpiece international football friendly against Brazil, which takes place at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
The agreement has been struck with the South African Football Association. Brandon Foot, acting chief executive of SuperSport, admitted that negotiations over the rights had been challenging.
Wednesday’s match will mark the 20th anniversary of South Africa’s democracy and will also honour the late Nelson Mandela.
