Sports data and technology Genius Sports has expanded its work with the Swedish Volleyball Federation (SVF) by launching the body’s first live streaming platform.
The platform will provide coverage of all elite series matches on a pay-per-view basis through a customised microsite and via the SVF’s official website.
Genius Sports has worked with the SVF for over a decade, providing the body with its e-Scoresheet and DataVolley live scoring and scouting solutions.
Martin Kihlström, head of the SVF, said: “This is a hugely important step in our effort to offer and make volleyball matches visible to a wider audience. It can give a chain reaction of positive effects that benefit both Swedish volleyball in general and the Elite Series and its clubs in particular.”
The platform will be powered by GeniusLive, which automates streaming, production and distribution and provides low-latency streams for over 15 volleyball leagues and federations globally.
The launch of the new SVF platform comes after Genius Sports agreed a live streaming deal with the Volleyball Association of Singapore (VAS) earlier this year. The deal enables the VAS to stream every play of the first-ever annual national volleyball competition in Singapore.
Last December, Genius Sports told SportBusiness that it was targeting “underserved” and “long-tail” sports with its new streaming production and betting streaming offering.
Genius Sports, which established itself in sports through its data and rights-holder integrity agreements, launched GeniusLive last October following the acquisition of Brussels-based streaming and performance analysis company Oppia Performance. GeniusLive uses AI-powered algorithms to automatically track, pan and capture live action.
