Indian pay-television broadcaster Taj Television will show action from Golf Channel on its soon-to-be-launched Ten Golf channel in India after agreeing a sublicensing deal with Golf Channel’s parent company, the NBCUniversal media group.
Ten Golf will show 400 hours of Golf Channel programming after purchasing exclusive basic cable rights in India through the deal with NBCUniversal’s international television distribution division. The length of the deal was not disclosed.
Atul Pande, the chief executive of the Ten Sports division of Taj, said Ten Golf would acquire more rights for the new channel in the near future. It recently agreed deals for the European Tour, Asian Tour and Ryder Cup.
