Overall ratings for cable viewers 4 years-old and above increased as much as 160% over last year across the three people-metered markets of Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia.
The men’s final between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer attracted a significant bulk of sports channel viewers – registering a high audience share of up to 87% among cable viewers aged 4 and above in the three markets. Ratings for the men’s semi-finals increased nearly 200% over 2008 for cable viewers 4 years-old and above.
ESS said that the increased ratings “underscored the fact that the consumption of premium sport events on television remains unaffected by the current recession, and that viewership for sports continue to build as people spend more time watching television.”
