TV Sports Markets to host expert panel at Sportel Monaco

TV Sports Markets will host a panel dedicated to sport and social media at this year’s Sportel Monaco convention with four top industry experts.

Social Media: From Ancillary Option to Primary Distribution platform will take place on Monday, October 24 at 2pm in the Conference Room (level -1) of the Grimaldi Forum. The expert panellists are:

• Gareth Capon, chief executive of Grabyo, the global market leader in real-time social video
• William Field, partner at Prospero, the influential sports and media advisory firm
• Christoph Heimes, head of sports partnerships for YouTube in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
• François Vasseur, marketing director for the Fédération Française de Football

The discussion will be moderated by Frank Dunne, Chief Sports Writer of SportBusiness Group.

Dunne said: “The speed at which social media has moved from a fringe activity to the forefront of rights-holder and broadcaster thinking is extraordinary. Social is the hottest topic there is right now in the industry. It is great to be able to discuss that with four experts who bring a wealth of experience at the cutting edge and who also represent very different perspectives.”

Prior to joining Grabyo, Capon was a product development director at UK pay-television broadcaster Sky where he managed Sky’s award-winning mobile app portfolio and led investments in tech start-ups in Europe and North America. He was also responsible for driving social TV initiatives across Sky.

Field is an internationally-recognised expert in sports media and has advised many of the world’s biggest rights-holders, broadcasters, service providers and intermediaries. He has worked with the top-tier football leagues in England, the Netherlands, France and Spain, as well as with Uefa, on broadcast rights and digital media strategies.

Heimes manages YouTube partners ranging from leagues and federations to broadcasters, content creators, publishers and news agencies. Prior to joining YouTube he worked in various sales and business development positions at Google and Microsoft Corp.

Vasseur is marketing and commercial director at the FFF, in charge of sponsorship and business development. He is also responsible for the federation’s brand and digital strategies and overseeing CRM. He started his career as a marketing executive for French telcos Bouygues Telecom and SFR, between 2005 and 2010.
