Danish public-service broadcaster TV2 has acquired rights for the Giro d’Italia cycling race.
The deal will cover at least the next three editions of the Italian event, from 2013 to 2015.
TV2 struck the deal with the IMG agency, which sells the rights to the race on a worldwide basis under an eight-year agreement, from 2013 to 2020, with RCS Sport, the operator of the event.
“Giro d’Italia was a great success in Denmark last year with the race beginning with three stages in Denmark,” TV2 sports director Frederik Lauesen said, according to the Ekstrabladet news website.
TV2 also has rights for the Tour de France and Vuelta a España cycling races.
