Polish public-service broadcaster TVP has enhanced its coverage of the Uefa Champions League under a new sublicensing deal for the club football competition struck with domestic rights-holder, pay-television operator NC Plus.
Under the agreement, TVP1 will broadcast one game per week on Wednesdays throughout the 2017-18 season. The deal commenced yesterday with Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Apoel Nicosia.
TVP’s coverage will be complemented by an hour-long programme after its weekly game showing highlights from all matches.
TVP had previously held rights to Champions League games featuring Polish teams, as well as the final itself.
Coverage of the Champions League is set to change in Poland from next season. Commercial and pay-television broadcaster Polsat in June confirmed the acquisition of exclusive rights for the Champions League and Europa League.
The rights for both competitions will run for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21, and cover television, internet and mobile platforms.
