US pay-television broadcaster Univision Deportes has acquired rights for the Bundesliga, the top tier of German club football, through a sublicensing deal with the Fox Deportes division of the Fox network.
The three-year deal will run until the end of the 2019-20 season. The agreement will grant Univision Deportes Spanish-language rights to three Bundesliga matches per week. Coverage will be shown through the Univision Deportes Network and the UniMás broadcaster.
UniMás will broadcast more than 20 Bundesliga matches per season as part of the agreement. Univision Deportes will also air a weekly preview show, as well as a Monday-night recap show called Somos Bundesliga.
Fox Deportes will retain Spanish-language rights to all remaining Bundesliga matches, including games between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and the German Super Cup.
Univision Deportes already has a content partnership with Bundesliga champion Bayern, whose Latin American players include James Rodriguez of Colombia and Chile’s Arturo Vidal.
US national team star Christian Pulisic (pictured) also plays for Dortmund.
