Virgin Media, the Irish telecoms and commercial and pay-television broadcaster, has said it is “happy to walk away” after failing in efforts to retain its rights to the Uefa Champions League.
While public-service broadcaster RTÉ is reported to have retained its rights to the pick of Tuesday night matches for the three-season cycle commencing in 2021-22, the Irish Times said a new bidder has entered the process, outbidding Virgin to take the majority of packages.
