World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe has signed its first commercial partnership through a deal with sports and betting-related services company Sportradar.
Sportradar’s OTT platform will become the first joint initiative of the newly formed WBSC Europe following the merger between the European Softball Federation and Confederation of European Baseball which was announced last week in Paris.
The platform will provide live and on-demand streaming of a number of baseball and softball tournaments across Europe, including all pan-European competitions, such as the European Championships, Super6 and Youth Championships.
Looking forward, Sportradar’s OTT service is also set to support the national competitions and leagues of member federations.
Sportradar managing director of OTT, Rainer Geier, said: “This new initiative will help enhance the popularity and visibility of both softball and baseball across Europe with both live and on-demand broadcasts and video content available for fans.
“This is yet another quality initiative that will see Sportradar’s OTT services used to help broadcast sport direct to fans, joining our already established partnerships with federations such as the European Handball Federation, EuroHockey, ITF (International Tennis Federation) and ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation).”
