The WWE wrestling entertainment organisation has struck a deal with online streaming platform PPTV to launch WWE Network in China and has agreed a rights deal with Colombian national broadcaster Canal 1.
WWE Network will launch as a subscription video-on-demand service featuring all live pay-per-view events on August 18. The coverage will include WrestleMania and the upcoming SummerSlam.
PPTV customers will be able to watch WWE Network through the PPTV application via internet-connected televisions, set-top boxes, mobile devices and tablets, as well as on WWE.cn, PPTV.com and Sports.PPTV.com.
The service will also offer reality shows, documentaries and classic matches, as well as live events.
Last year, WWE agreed a multi-year deal with PPTV to deliver the organisation’s flagship shows, Raw and SmackDown, live in Mandarin.
In Colombia, the WWE’s deal with Canal 1 will cover Raw and SmackDown and start on August 19. Every Saturday, Canal 1 will show a one-hour edition of Raw followed by a one-hour episode of SmackDown, both with Spanish commentary. Starting on August 20, WWE Experience will offer weekly highlights on the channel.
