Football: Spanish commercial broadcaster Telecinco acquired the rights for eight matches from this year’s Fifa World Cup in a deal with Prisa-owned pay-broadcaster Sogecable. Telecinco will show the opening match, Spain’s three group matches, the first-choice second round match, quarter-final and semi-final and then the final. Sogecable’s free-to-air arm Cuatro, which was acquired by Telecinco last December, will show 16 matches, including 11 group matches, three second-round matches, a quarter-final and the other semi-final. Prisa-owned satellite platform Digital Plus will show all 64 matches on pay-television, 40 exclusively.
