International sports broadcaster Eleven Sports has added more content in the US by securing exclusive rights to the American Ultimate Disc League ultimate frisbee competition.
Eleven Sports will broadcast the ‘Game of the Week’ live on all 18 match days during the 2017 season, including 13 regular-season games and all five play-off games.
The deal marks the first time that North America’s AUDL will appear on cable television. Eleven Sports’ coverage begins with the match between DC Breeze and Toronto Rush on April 9.
Danny Menken, group managing director at Eleven Sports, said: “Aligned with our core strategy, the AUDL represents a fantastic opportunity for us to reach a new generation of millennial fans who are looking for fresh and exciting sports content.
“This is an exciting time and we’re looking forward to continuing the momentum with further announcements very soon.”
Eleven Sports last month acquired “certain distribution assets” of troubled broadcaster One World Sports in a bid to expand into the US market. The broadcaster this week also secured rights in the US to select events from cycling’s Ciclismo Cup.
