Bonnier seals deal to become sole owner of C More

The Bonnier media group has secured full ownership of pay-television broadcaster C More Entertainment, a major broadcaster of sport in Scandinavia.

Bonnier has acquired a 35-per-cent stake in C More that was owned by media company Telenor to become the sole owner of the broadcaster.

Bonnier acquired a controlling shareholder in C More from media group TV4 in 2008 and Telenor has had a 35-per-cent share of the company since 2009.

“By taking over as sole owner, we are now creating full freedom of action for our work of identifying the best possible structure and direction for C More going forward, and for coming up with an optimal way of exploiting and developing C More’s very strong rights portfolio to best effect,” said Casten Almqvist, chairman of C More and head of business area broadcasting at Bonnier.

Manfred Aronsson was appointed as C More’s new chief executive last week. He will start work on August 18, succeeding Johan Kleberg.
