French pay-television broadcasters Canal Plus and beIN Sport have tabled bids for a package of national handball rights, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
The package includes France men’s and women’s national team games, excluding international tournaments, plus the national women’s championship in France and the domestic women’s league cup knockout tournament.
The Fédération Française de Handball, the sport’s governing body in France, received the bids on Tuesday afternoon.
The rights will run for four seasons, from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
Canal Plus is the incumbent rights-holder in a deal that is worth €750,000 ($1 million) per year.
