The CBC Sports division of Canadian public-service broadcaster CBC has agreed a wide-ranging rights deal with Fina, the global governing body of aquatic sports.
CBC Sports will serve as Fina’s exclusive broadcaster in Canada for the next four years and show coverage of various major events.
Coverage will begin with the 2017 World Aquatics Championship, which runs from July 14-30 in Budapest, Hungary. Penny Oleksiak (pictured) is due to compete in swimming events at the championships and is one of Canada’s main medal hopes.
Events will be shown on Road to the Olympic Games on CBC television as well as live streamed on cbcsports.ca and the network’s apps for iOS and Android devices.
