Companies form VR association

Acer Starbreeze, Google, HTC VIVE, Facebook’s Oculus, Samsung, and Sony Interactive Entertainment have collaborated to create a non-profit organisation of international headset manufacturers to promote the growth of the virtual reality (VR) industry.

The Global Virtual Reality Association (GVRA) will aim to develop and share best practices for industry stakeholders whilst fostering dialogue between public and private-sector stakeholders around the world.

The GVRA will also serve as a resource for consumers, policy-makers and companies interested in VR.

Sports broadcasters and organisations have invested an increasing amount of time and money in VR in recent months. Earlier in December, the NFL confirmed a partnership with VR technology provider Voke to provide highlights of the American football league.
