The Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) has partnered with internet service provider SAPO to launch a new online video platform.
The COP said the “pioneering project” is designed to tie in with the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Channel plans and will offer an array of exclusive video and multimedia content relating to Olympic sports in Portugal.
CanalCOP will initially focus on the preparations of Portuguese athletes for the upcoming 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The COP said the platform will also showcase the history of the Portuguese Olympic movement, including exclusive interviews with athletes.
The COP said it will also consult on the project with Portuguese Olympic rights-holders, public-service broadcaster RTP and pay-television broadcaster Sport TV.
