DAZN, the OTT subscription streaming service, has added esports to its offering in Brazil by agreeing a rights deal for the 2020 season of the Blast Premier global tournament series.
DAZN began covering the newly-rebranded series, based on the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive game, at the weekend as it opened its Spring Series with an event in London.
Twelve partner teams, including Brazilian outfit MIBR, are competing over two seasons in 2020 for the chance to win a $1m (€904,000) prize for the Global Final winner. The series rebranded from Blast Pro Series back in December.
DAZN’s latest rights deal comes after it last month added to its tennis portfolio in Brazil by agreeing to cover the start of the women’s national team’s campaign in the revamped Fed Cup.
DAZN has acquired exclusive rights to Brazil’s home tie against Germany on February 7-8 in the Fed Cup Qualifiers.
