Deutsche Telekom to launch new DEL platform

A new platform dedicated to coverage of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the top division of ice hockey in Germany, will be launched by telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom ahead of the start of the new season.

The www.telekomishockey.de platform, which will launch on September 1 ahead of the start of the 2016-17 campaign on September 16, will offer live coverage of every game to connected televisions, PCs, tablets and mobile devices, as well as the Entertain IPTV service. The platform will also offer highlights and support programming.

The service will be available for free to Telekom subscribers on a fixed-term contract for the next two years. Non-subscribers can pay €9.95 ($11) per month to access the service.

In January, Deutsche Telekom sealed a four-year rights deal for the DEL, from 2016-17 to 2019-20, with the option of extending the deal by a further four seasons, from 2020-21 to 2023-24.
