DFL to set out Bundesliga packages this week

The Deutsche Fussball Liga, the German football league, will reveal its packaging of the domestic rights for the Bundesliga in the 2013-14 to 2016-17 seasons on Thursday, when it launches the full tender, according to Reuters.

The sales process began in December when the DFL asked companies to register their interest in bidding. It is expected to be completed by May.

Spiegel reported that IPTV operator Deutsche Telekom will bid for the Bundesliga’s cable and satellite pay-television rights, as well as the IPTV rights. Pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland has exclusive live television rights, excluding IPTV, covering all matches in the current cycle, from 2009-10 to 2012-13.

Telekom, which has IPTV rights in the current cycle, from 2009-10 to 2012-13, would consider selling on cable-television rights to a third party if it wins them.
